Stone's book sports car color history- jaguar e-type introduced in 1961, the e-type roadster proved to be an immediate success. Designed under the guidance of sir william lyons, the car was a longer and lower version of jaguar's d-type. Manufactured between 1961 and 1975, its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marquee as an icon of 1960s motoring. Distributor to it first registered owner bb car leasing. This particular model is unofficially known as the series 1â½, a transitional series between 1 and 2 with physical attributes of each, while internally classified as a series 1. A recent previous owner purchased the coupe in southern california in 1981. As a member of the jaguar owner's club of los angeles, mr. Lassus carefully preserved and maintained the e-type for several decades, eventually retiring to arizona with the car, while continuing a local club membership. In the mid-1990's this car was featured in chapter 4 -1968 series 1. 5 of matthew l. Stone's book sports car color history- jaguar e-type published by motorbooks international. Numerous photos of the jaguar by david w. Newhardt, were used as reference for s1. 5 discussions and comparisons. Little has changed cosmetically from the 20-year old publication, as the fhc remains incredibly original including the cabin and its upholstery, engine bay components and much of the paintwork, as well as trim and auxiliaries. The exterior received a repaint many years ago, while the body displays very straight panels, factory spot welds along the rockers and original, unpatched floor pans. All factory identification tags remain riveted to its body and comes complete with jack in pouch, lead hammer and jaguar heritage trust certificate, verifying delivery information. The revered series 1 coupes are said to be one of the purest driving 1960's sports cars with its combination of great looks, rigidity and lively power.
