1971 buick gran sport - birmingham, alprivate seller - alabamabirmingham, al 35211ph: 7069562583web: www. Alautotx. Comoptions:description:1971 buick gs this is not a clone! This is not a tribute car! But it is definitely not my grandfather’s buick! His buick was a 1958 special that was massive and slow, but very comfortable to drive. This is a 1971 buick gs… kid brother of the flashier buick gsx and cousin to the chevelle ss, oldsmobile 442, and the pontiac gto. This car came off of the flint, mi assembly line at the height of the classic muscle car era. The following year, 1972, gasoline got scarce, horsepower plummeted, and insurance rates skyrocketed causing american auto makers to suspend the manufacture of high performance vehicles for more than a decade and a half.

The buick skylark model was made in six production runs, for 46 years, over which the car's design varied dramatically due to changing technology and tastes and new standards implemented over the years. Created to mark buick's 50th anniversary, the roadmaster skylark joined the oldsmobile 98 fiesta and cadillac series 62 eldorado as top-of-the-line, limited-production specialty convertibles introduced in 1953 by general motors to promote its design leadership. This second-generation skylark convertible has been transformed to look like the ultimate buick, the gsx. The gsx was buick's answer to pontiac's gto judge, oldsmobile's 4-4-2 w-30, and plymouth's hemi cuda. This skylark is equipped with the same 455 cid v8 that came in the gsx that has been rebuilt with all new internals, balanced & blueprinted & features fastlane motorsports fuel injection system that has been tuned to the car. That monster of a v8 has only 2200 miles on it since the rebuild and it is paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission that has also been rebuilt and it shifts smooth and gives the car a sweet driving experience. The transmission has a stall speed torque converter installed on it for quicker launches. The body is in very good condition, straight & true. The bumpers, grill, trim, & emblems are also all in great shape. The car sits on its factory buick 14-inch two-tone wheels wrapped in bf goodrich tires with plenty of tread left on them. The convertible top new to the car, the car does not have the hydraulics hooked up so the top is currently manually operated, but can be converted back later if desired. The interior has been recently redone with the black vinyl seats (very comfortable), door panels, carpet, & dash are in like new condition. A small gauge cluster under the dash holds 3 gauges for engine management (oil pressure, battery voltage, & water temp). The car has undergone some recent service maintenance items have been performed on the car such as; new fan clutch, new 4-core aluminum radiator, new water pump, new control arms bushings, new idler arm, center link, tie rod ends, new heavy-duty clutch, new bands, resealed rear differential, new pinion axle seals, new axle bearings, new radiator & heater hoses, small items as well, & much much more. Other notable features include; power brakes, power steering, cd player with custom sound system, leather interior, seat belts, & more. CD Player

Streetside classics | ebay template p{ margin: 0px; } . Videos{ width: 790px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; } . Videos object { height: 445px ! This 1971 buick gs350 proves that not only was the horsepower there, but the style as well, because this bright red buick has a performance look that leaves no question about its purpose. Painted in its correct code 75 fire red, this is an unusual and rare buick. The gs took the standard skylark, which was already a handsome car, and put enough testosterone in it to grow hair on a bowling ball. The hood with functional ram air induction, a rear wing, and the rocker panel moldings with red stripes give it plenty of street cred. The body is very, very straight with good, clean lines and decent panel alignment, and it's kind of refreshing to see an aggressive gs buick that isn't bright yellow. The gs also received a blacked-out grille and special badging to help it stand apart (as if it needed help in that regard). Most of the chrome on this car appears original and is in excellent shape, another indicator of just how nice this car really is. Buick got the interiors right in the gs series, offering the sporty look that muscle cars demand and combining it with an upscale dose of luxury that is befitting of gm's top-of-the-line muscle car. The upholstery seems to have been recently freshened, with correct seat covers, door panels, and nice black carpets that all look quite fresh. Round gauges set into square recesses in the dash look mostly original with a little fading in the lenses, but vivid orange needles are easy to see and the tach looks almost new. As a buick, it comes with important options like factory a/c (some of the system has been removed but it should be easy enough to put it right), power steering and brakes, and a 4-speed sticking out of the transmission tunnel. The original am radio still lives in the dash, and it's probably due for an upgrade... Even the small block buicks were a menace on the streets, and this one is a very strong runner. The engine bay is dominated by the big ram air vents, but underneath there's a dante red buick 350, which has its own unique sound and a mountain of torque available. Turn the key and it fires with a noteworthy buick burble from the flowmaster dual exhaust system. The aforementioned 4-speed is a great find in a luxury-oriented buick and the rear axle is a rugged 10-bolt supported by original coils and new shocks with helper springs. Buick road wheels are some of the best looking rolling stock of the muscle car era, and these are fitted with big 225/70/14 front and 245/60/14 rear bfgoodrich t/a radials.
