1955 ford thunderbird convertible � designers: william p. As opposed to the corvette, which shared virtually nothing with its full-size sisters, the t-bird's styling kept a family resemblance alive which helped propel ford into the top-selling position for several seasons during the 1950's. Thunderbird helped build showroom traffic and even though mom and dad might go home in a fairlane sedan or country sedan station wagon, they felt they were bringing home just a bit of the t-bird flair. That represents one of the most outstanding colors applied to the t-bird, goldenrod yellow. Introduced towards the latter part of the model year, the goldenrod yellow t-birds are treasured among collectors, as well they should be. This example has been treated to a full restoration during which time a couple of convenience upgrades were included. The electrical system was changed to the more popular 12-volts and for cool summertime cruising a modern air-conditioner has been added. Externally, this car is a fresh and pure as the day it rolled off the assembly line at the legendary rouge plant in dearborn. Another modern-day accessory tastefully added is a custom-fit am-fm sound system. The engine is fitted with the accessory dress-up kit featuring finned valve covers, chrome air-cleaner and a look that cannot be beaten. Driving this car is a dream with all gauges working including the all-important tachometer and even the electric clock. 1955 t-bird roadster, this is a very nice driving car that looks like a million bucks from 20 feet. The paint was done in 1972 at a cost of $144 plus $27 for materials. This reciept along with hundreds more going back to the sixties come with the car. The paint is far from perfect, but looks great from a distance and shines nicely. I bought this car from a gentleman that aquired it from an 84 year old gentleman in nevada where it had spent most of it's life. Prior to that it was in southern california. He had owned it since the late sixties and has every reciept for all of those years. This car has never had a hint of rust anywhere, having spent it's life in the dry southwest. It has, however, had the drivers fender and door replaced with used parts, probably over 40 years ago, and they could use a little work to be perfect. The motor was rebuilt about 20k miles ago and just purrs like only an old ford y-block can. The 3 speed overdrive works very nicely also. It cruises down the highway 70 mph+ effortlessly with the overdrive, and is a pure joy to drive. Everything works as it should.

1955 ford thunderbirdthis very nice 1955 t-bird is in really good condition and is a driver. It has belonged to the same owner since 1976. The car had been in storage since 1996. We have done all the things needed to bring a car like this back to life: new brake lines, new master cylinder, new gas tank, all fuel lines cleaned or replaced. The paint is driver quality and the interior is clean. No cracks in the dash, carpets are good. It has the original 292 ci v8 with 3 speed overdrive transmission and runs and drives like a 1955 t-bird should. The tires are new and all the hubcaps are there and in excellent condition. The car does have both tops, soft top and removable hardtop. The soft top looks to be ok, but we did not remove the hardtop in order to keep the seal intact. Hanstrom@texasmotortoys. Com.
