I will have the bike available after the 16th of july, for pickup. I am currently out of state. Be/sbm7dob5xdethis gl1000 meets its purpose beyond well. When i ride this bike i find it so hard to believe that it is 40 years, because it is so smooth and reliable. Everyone is always asking how old it is and is a great conversation starter. These are becoming very collectible when running and driving and their values are creeping upwards very quickly. I have taken this bike all across new mexico and texas with zero problems whatsoever with mile after mile passing by in desert heat. This old girl loves to cruise at 70 mph with ease. This is not a show bike, it is ridden and used and 40 years old. The last owners were in louisiana, so the bike does have surface rust in a few areas. From what i see, the rust is all truly surface rust and not effecting anything safety or performance. I used tin foil to remove the surface rust in visible areas, but have not had time to go through the rest of the bike and truly clean it up the way she deserves. The exhaust system does have pitting, so not perfect either. The left mirror is missing because the base is so tightly screwed i can't remove it but haven't tried too hard. All signals, brake lights, fuel, speed, and temperature gauges are working which is rare for the year. Motor is very healthy and so smooth as is the whole bike with its excellent suspension. I can hear a little oxygen escaping from the boots at times, so probably needs to be tightened or investigated for a vacuum leak but does not bother the performance of the bike. I have too many bikes in my residence so one has to go. Lastly, this is a 40 year old bike and is not perfect in the slightest. Has scratches/nicks in spots and just isn't collector grade but is rider grade. See photos for the accessories that come with the bike. I have removed the custom seat and have the bike looking how it would have been leaving the factory. It could run another 30 miles or another 30,000 miles. I know it will go the distance since these bikes are notorious for that skill. With all that being said, i would ride this bike across the country tomorrow.
